Founding Stage

Torche started as an online-based tutoring for chemical engineering students for Universitas Indonesia students, named Torche UI. Co-founders met for the first time to discuss the business model, curriculum, and roadmap of the company. On 21^st September 2022, Torche launched their first tutoring class, which consists of mass and energy balance, mass transfer, process synthesis, and biochemical engineering. 37 students registered on the first day and resulting in 90% satisfaction rate.

Appointed as Managing Partner

Torche officially open for other universities on March 2021, rebranding it's name to Torche Education. I was appointed to become the Managing Partner of the company on July 2021 and transformed the company to become tech-enabled enterprises by building technology infrastructures. Under my leadership, for the first time Torche opened their internship program, accepting 3 interns for marketing team.

Torche held it's first Torcamp (Torche Bootcamp), targeting chemical engineering freshmen from around Indonesia. The event was held for two (2) days and attended by 45 students from 6 universities from around Indonesia. Then on November 2021, Torche held the first Virtual Open House, inviting 53 chemical engineering student associations from around Indonesia. The event followed by free demo classess which attended by 100+ students from around Indonesia.

During my tenure as managing partner, Torche's revenue growth by 236% yoy and student growth by 321%. Then, student's satisfaction rate are at 89.5% and session completion rate at 94.7%. These traction made Torche become more appealing to the investor, resulting an angel investor decided to invest in Torche on December 2021. Because of this, Torche planned to legalize it's company by building a PT (Perseroan Terbatas). My service as managing partner ended on January 2022 and then the company changed it's business and organization structure from partnership to cooperation, with Arya Ramadhan appointed as the new CEO based on the agreement in the annual work meeting at Bandung.

Appointed as Chief Technology Officer

After rescructuring the organization, I was appointed as chief technology officer at Torche Education. As a CTO, I lead technology and engineering division which consists of 4 departments. Until today, I have lead more than 60 interns and handle more than 10 projects, including Torche's website, Torche's Learning Management System, Torche's internal communication and project management system, and business automations. I also initiated B2B scheme for Torche, which resulting in expanding the business and partnership with several startup, including KitaLulus and MEVIS.

On August 2022, Torche is featured by KrAsia and Alibaba Cloud as Top 10 Indoensia Emerging Startup. Then, we were invited to participate in KrAsia X Alibaba Cloud Demo Day to pitch our company in front of 4 judges, which was East Venture, Skystar Capital, Indigo, and Alibaba. Torche then awarded as 2022 most active startup from Alibaba Cloud.
